Law enforcement conduct distracted driver/occupant protection enforcement throughout Calvert County – Southern Maryland News Net

On May 23, 2022, members of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office along with officers from neighboring districts and Maryland State Police troopers conducted high-intensity distracted driving and occupant protection details on major county roads.

This targeted application supports the Maryland Highway Safety Office program called “Operation Border to Border”. The deputies worked in areas bordering other jurisdictions that also participated in the program, including Route 231 in the Benedict Bridge area.

Using marked and unmarked vehicles in the three-hour detail, Calvert deputies made 25 traffic stops, resulting in a CDS violation.

This app is a continuation of the app directed and educational patrols conducted on various county roads following an increase in serious and fatal accidents.

Additional waves of enforcement will be conducted on various county roads focused on deterring speeding, aggressive driving, distracted driving and occupant protection. Citizens who observe vehicles operating recklessly or recklessly are urged to contact the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office by calling 911 or the non-emergency number 410-535-2800.
